Lewandowski can play the derby against Espanyol of Barcelona. This is how the injunction of the court of Madrid that allows Barcelona to have its striker while the latter was suspended for 3 games, a sanction that is confirmed by the CAS. This means that we are facing a new controversial decision that is already causing waves of reactions, especially in the Espanyol clan.

Indeed, the RCD Espanyol has issued a harsh statement in response to the decision of the Central Court of Madrid to grant Lewandowski a sanction of three games as a precautionary measure, which means that he will be able to play the derby this Saturday. And the least we can say is that the letter is very firm: “The RCD Espanyol de Barcelona finds it unusual that 24 hours before the match against FC Barcelona, and after being dismissed by different competent bodies (Competition, Appeals and TAD), a precautionary measure has been granted to a sanction previously imposed on the FC Barcelona player, Robert Lewandowski. In this sense, as an indirectly involved party, we could only have access to the resolution after requesting it from different bodies and not because we were informed, as provided for in the rules of procedure, “began the statement.

For the Blue and White, there are no arguments to justify this decision: “We consider that the conditions to justify the precautionary measure are not met. Specifically, the appearance of good law is particularly untenable when there are two sanctions of different types, three unfavorable administrative resolutions and a referee’s report with a presumption of veracity that support the sanction “.

Espanyol also points out the effects of the injunction on the development of the competition: “Likewise, there is talk of irreparable damage to FC Barcelona without assessing the irreparable damage to its rivals and to the competition without giving any possibility of recourse.

The timing is not in favor of Espanyol either: “The Club considers that this last minute decision totally conditions this game day, which began yesterday, Thursday, and the preparation of the team for this game. The RCD Espanyol understands that this is an insult and an injustice given the precedents with other clubs”.

Likewise, the entity appeals to precedents: “It should be remembered that throughout this season, Espanyol has encountered similar situations in which appeals have been filed for expulsions of its players and in no case have they led to the meeting of the corresponding committee during the week to study the allegations presented by the club.”

Finally, Espanyol stressed: “despite this injustice and unprecedented decision in the competition, our team will fight 110% tomorrow to return the trust of our fans.
