The winter mercato continues in the ranks of players as well as soccer coaches. And if some are sitting comfortably in their chairs, there are others who even having a club, covet some positions that are available. And in these two categories, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho are very well.

Long announced to take over from Fernando Santos after his dismissal by Portugal after the fiasco of the World Cup Qatar 2022, Jose Mourinho has resisted the call of his country and preferred to stay at the club for the time being, since Roma also does not want to do without his services, at least until the end of the current season. For his part, Pep Guardiola has extended his contract with Manchester City, closing the door to a departure this summer.

Only that this decision of the Spaniard opens a new door to the Portuguese. Indeed, after the dismissal of Tite, and while the CBF knew that Pep Guardiola, its favorite, would not leave Manchester City at the moment, it is already considering other possibilities. As proof, a few weeks ago, the name of Jose Mourinho had already appeared as a leading candidate to coach the Canarinha. And if everyone laughed about it, it seems that these rumors are about to become reality.

Carlos Alberto, a former player who played for Champions League winner Porto in the 2003-04 season, confirmed the interest of both parties: “I’ll say it frankly: maybe Mourinho will be the new coach of the Brazilian national team. He recently offered me to be his assistant”, Carlos Alberto revealed in a podcast of Mundo GV. This means that the Special One, who is currently at the head of Roma, with whom he has a contract until 2024, is tempted by the offer as tempting as that of coaching Brazil.

And if this were to come true, then he will overtake Pep Guardiola who was approached, and whose problems were the remuneration coupled with the fact that Brazil was only playing with locals. And if the country has finally decided to bet on foreigners, Guardiola had the misfortune to learn it after his extension with Manchester City, leaving the field open to Jose Mourinho.
