Premier League: Declan Rice, Guardiola’s most expensive setback
Javier Tebas has the control of his league and can do what he wants or decides. At least that’s what the new court ruling says, which has just rejected Real Madrid, Barcelona and Athletic, who decided to join forces against the project initiated by the president of LaLiga.
Indeed, the measures taken by Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Athletic Club against the LaLiga Impulso-CVC project have not been successful. The Provincial Court of Madrid notified LaLiga today that the injunctions to stop the project were rejected. As a reminder, the three clubs had already considered an alternative to this option a few years ago. This is the third time that the court has denied the interim measures, this request having been made on appeal by the three clubs against the order of the court of first instance that had denied it. LaLiga transmitted the decision of the Provincial Court of Madrid in an official statement:
“The Provincial Court “ratifies the non-existence of the appearance of good right, as well as the non-existence of danger by default”, that is, neither of the two presuppositions for the adpación of a precautionary measure. The same statutes of LaLiga contemplate the possibility that third parties outside of LaLiga participate in the commercial activities of the latter, which has full capacity of self-organization with regard to its private legal sphere of action, “adds the order. Finally, it should be noted that the Provincial Court has ordered Real Madrid, FC Barcelona and Athletic Club to pay the costs of the proceedings.
LaLiga welcomes this ruling, which once again ratifies the legitimacy of the clubs’ agreement with the CVC, which has the support of 38 signatory clubs, and which has allowed these clubs to plan investments, without public aid, that otherwise would have been unaffordable and that will accelerate the growth of the clubs in 20 years in terms of investment, infrastructure, internationalization and professionalization, among others.
Once again, LaLiga regrets the selfish position of the plaintiff clubs who insist on curbing a project that 38 clubs have joined, plus the four promoted clubs of this season, a global project that benefits everyone and that has been imitated by the professional leagues of Italy, France and Germany, which have seen in the project led by LaLiga an inspiration to stimulate their own growth.
LaLiga is convinced that, despite the repeated attempts of an interested minority, justice will continue to be committed to resolve in favor of the common benefit inherent in a project such as LaLiga Impulso, which involves the investment of 2 billion euros in professional soccer, with the consequent growth for the sports and regional ecosystem of the clubs’ areas of influence.”
