Premier League: Declan Rice, Guardiola’s most expensive setback
The dismissal of Julian Nagelsmann by Bayern Munich is news that no one expected in the soccer world. And if everyone is taken by surprise, it seems that in Germany, it does not surprise as much because of the difficulties of the latter to manage his group. And this is one of the reasons for his departure.
Despite his excellent results since the beginning of the current season, Julian Nagelsmann has been dismissed as coach of Bayern Munich. The German coach qualified the Bavarians for the quarterfinals of the Champions League thanks to a series of victories, despite the meetings with Barcelona, Inter Milan and PSG, so will not officiate against Manchester City in the quarterfinals of the continental competition.
In fact, Bayern Munich is second in the Bundesliga, only one point behind Dortmund, which it faces after the break, and it is also leading the Cup. But despite all this, the Allianz Arena offices have weighed much heavier on other reasons to opt for his dismissal. In particular, the one that seems to have the most weight, even more than not being at the top of the Bundesliga, is the existence of disagreements between Nagelsmann and part of the dressing room. Just a few weeks ago, there was talk of a mole.
“It’s a protected species, it’s hard to find them. I sleep well, but I don’t think the mole can say the same,” Nagelsmann said after SportBild published images of the coach’s match analysis. On the other hand, and this is what would have led to the sacking, the fact that Borussia Dortmund overtook Bayern Munich in the standings last weekend does not seem to have helped either. For the Munich side, winning the league is almost a must, and being second at this stage of the season is not natural.
However, it is surprising that Bayern is without Nagelsmann when they have only lost three of their 37 games so far this season. All of them in the Bundesliga, with 1-0 losses to Augsburg, 3-2 to Gladbach and 2-1 to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen. Finally, it is worth remembering that Bayern Munich paid no less than 20 million euros to Leipzig, Nagelsmann’s former club, in the summer of 2021. Not even two years ago.
